Lesson 3: Collaboration and Leadership as Digital Citizens

Picture
As you have learned in the past two lessons digital citizenship is important and the misuse of technology can cause some very hurtful or dangerous situations. These lessons have given you resources to practice good digital citizenship. It is now your responsibility to share that information with others and act as a leader so that others may learn by your example to be good digital citizens.

Lesson Introduction

To begin today's lesson post a 150 word blog response to the following questions: "What could you do to practice digital citizenship within and outside of school? What specific things you can do to be a leader in a digital society?"

Lesson Activity

For this lesson you will be creating a video promoting digital citizenship for students around the school. Your videos will be shown during an advisement lesson about digital citizenship. The video should be creative and captivate the viewer's attention. It should also be informative for all students about the definition and importance of good digital citizenship.

You may use either iMovie/Garage Band or the Camtasia studio program to create your video. Links are provided below as helpful resources for these programs.

Here is a rubric that can be used to evaluate your video project.

Lesson Conclusion

In conclusion to these lessons post to the blog a 150 word about how the digital citizenship lesson went in your advisement. Explain how students responded to the videos. What more do you think could be done to promote positive use of digital tools throughout the school?
